Staff Spotlight: Meet Quinn!
When she’s not at work, Reservations Specialist Quinn Barclay loves getting together with friends and loved ones for outdoor activities like camping, hiking and kayaking. In the office, she loves connecting with people from all over the world.
As a Sitka native, Quinn says she’s proud of how much Alaskan Dream Cruises does for communities in Southeast Alaska, like supporting rural schools and providing transportation to locals after a landslide took out roads.
Q: How long have you been with Alaskan Dream Cruises?
Quinn: I’ve been with Alaskan Dream Cruises since the Spring of 2018, although I have not been in only one department. My experience began with shore support, slowly transitioning into becoming the accounting admin over the winter months, and then ending up here in reservations when an awesome opportunity arose.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working with Alaskan Dream Cruises?
Quinn: My favorite thing about my position would probably be working with people from all over the world, whether they’re direct guests or travel agents who want to learn more about our company. Overall, it’s a great feeling to share information on the company you work for and have a great relationship with, along with sharing experiences or bits of our everyday life here in Southeast Alaska.
Q: What is a surprising thing that others may not know about your job?
Quinn: You have to know a little about everything. Whether it’s how much power a boat draws or which brand of bedding we have, it’s the little things we need to know.
Q: What are three words you’d use to describe an ADC cruise?
Quinn: Wild. Unforgettable. Mountainous.
Q: If you weren’t working here, you’d…?
Quinn: I most likely would be a small business owner practicing esthetics here in Southeast Alaska.
Q: When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?
Quinn: I love to try to be as active as I can; this may include paddle boarding, kayaking, casual hikes, hunting during season, fishing in the summers and, of course, camping. Living here in Southeast you really don’t have too many options for things to do besides getting out and being active with your friends and loved ones.
Q: What’s your favorite movie? Favorite book? Favorite song?
Quinn: I really don’t have a favorite song, but I do love country! I’ve gotten into audio books a lot more recently because it allows me to work/clean house while listening, and I’ve really taken a liking to Jodi Picoult books.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like folks to know about you or your company?
Quinn: Alaskan Dream Cruises is an amazing company that’s growing in Southeast Alaska and providing lots of jobs and opportunities for the surrounding communities. Before working here, I had no idea how much the company does for the area. From donating funds to small rural schools, to providing transportation after a landslide took out a small portion of our road system… they do a fabulous job of showing continuous support for Alaska and its small Southeast communities.
