Staff Spotlight: Meet Laurel!
Sitka native Laurel Raschick has been a Sales and Reservations Specialist for Alaskan Dream Cruises for more than two years. Before that, she spent two summers working in shore support for the company.
Laurel brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to the job and loves hearing the excitement of guests who are coming to Alaska to fulfill that “bucket list” dream.
Q. What is your favorite thing about this job?
Laurel: I grew up here, so being able to share that with people from all around the world is really special.
Q. What is a surprising thing that others may not know about your job?
Laurel: In reservations, we occasionally get to go on some of the cruises ourselves – it’s such a fun experience to put faces to names, and to get to meet the guests we’ve been speaking with!
Q. What are three words you’d use to describe an ADC cruise?
Laurel: Immersive. Informative. Scenic.
Q. If you weren’t working here, you’d…?
Laurel: I would love to be writing in some capacity – travel blogger, author, etc.
Q. When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?
Laurel: I love to go hiking whenever possible. Being outdoors is such a big part of living in Southeast Alaska, so I try to take advantage of that whenever I can!
Q. What’s your favorite movie? Favorite book? Favorite song?
Laurel: Throughout my life I’ve always enjoyed reading in my free time, so I don’t think I can narrow it down to one favorite book! The same goes for a favorite song, although I often prefer listening to country
Q. Is there anything else you’d like folks to know about you or your company?
Laurel: We love hearing from guests post-cruise! After working so closely with everyone to get their cruise set up and planned, it’s great to be able to hear how it went, and about the different adventures they experienced.
